Introduction

AOA Dx exists to transform women’s health. We are leading the next generation of cancer diagnostics, applying lipidomics, proteomics, and machine learning to enable earlier diagnosis of ovarian cancer for women with signs and symptoms - an area where no diagnostic tool exists today.

The Opportunity

AOA Dx is seeking an experienced Mass Spectrometry Scientist to join our Research & Development team and play a central role in advancing AKRIVIS GD™, our early-stage ovarian cancer liquid biopsy program.

This role will lead LC-MS/MS method development and high-throughput serum biomarker analysis within our multi-omics platform. The newly hired scientist will contribute directly to biomarker optimization, assay robustness, and translational readiness as we progress toward regulatory and clinical milestones.

This is not a routine instrument operator position — it is a scientifically independent, method-driven role with real influence on assay performance and development strategy.

Key Responsibilities

LC-MS Strategy & Method Development

  • Independently design, develop, and optimize LC-MS/MS methods for lipid and small-molecule biomarkers
  • Define analytical strategies to improve sensitivity, specificity, reproducibility, and throughput
  • Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot triple quadrupole and/or high-resolution LC-MS systems

Experimental Design & Biomarker Optimization

  • Design and execute high-throughput serum biomarker experiments
  • Evaluate biomarker performance across experimental conditions
  • Contribute to assay refinement and analytical robustness

Data Analysis & Scientific Communication

  • Analyze complex LC-MS datasets using appropriate statistical approaches
  • Maintain precise documentation in electronic lab notebooks
  • Present findings to internal stakeholders and contribute to scientific publications and conferences

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with computational biology, clinical, and regulatory teams to advance assay development
  • Support milestone-driven R&D objectives
  • Contribute to translational readiness and regulatory-aligned analytical practices

Qualifications

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field
  • (MS/BS candidates with substantial, relevant industry experience considered)
  • 4+ years hands-on experience operating and maintaining LC-MS systems
  • 2+ years of LC-MS method development experience
  • Biotech or pharma industry experience (level varies by degree)
  • Strong understanding of lipid and/or small molecule biology preferred
  • Experience in biological sample preparation for downstream LC-MS/HPLC
  • Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear insights
