AOA Dx is seeking a Scientist, Mass Spectrometry. Our revolutionary tumor marker ganglioside platform, GlycoLocate™, is paving the way for life-saving early cancer detection.™

We are seeking a talented and experienced Scientist, Mass Spectrometry to join our Research and Development (R&D) team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field, with specific experience in Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) method development. You will play a pivotal role in leveraging your experience in LC-MS/MS, HPLC, and data analysis to support the development of an early-stage diagnostic aimed at the detection of ovarian cancer.

Responsibilities

  • Independently design and execute high throughput experiments examining serum biomarkers using a tandem MS platform for biological characterization and analytical platform development
  • Independently analyze multi-omic LC-MS data to draw conclusions on cancer biology questions and analytical platform development
  • Independently design method development experiments for analyte separation, detection and quantification using HPLC with ELSD and/or UV-Vis detectors
  • Define and optimize LC-MS strategies for peak identification and validation of biomarkers associated with early detection of ovarian cancer
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the R&D publication and conference submission strategy
  • Present research findings and progress to internal teams and diverse stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of complex biological data
  • Work collaboratively with other scientists, project management and leadership to progress team goals and achieve company milestones
  • Present findings and progress to a diverse range of individuals in team meetings
  • Operate, maintain and optimize LC-MS instruments with precision and accuracy
  • Troubleshoot, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on instrumentation
  • Maintain accurate records of experiments and results using an electronic lab notebook
  • Stay current with the latest trends, research, and advancements in mass spectrometry and related fields.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Analytical chemistry, biochemistry or related field
  • Candidates with M.S. or B.S. degrees with compensating expertise and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining LC-MS systems
  • Minimum 2+ years developing LC-MS methods
  • Experience in migration of discovery LC-MS to targeted methods is preferred
  • Deep understanding of lipid and/or small molecule biology is preferred
  • Knowledge of biological sample preparation and extraction techniques for downstream LC-MS and HPLC analysis
  • Required years' experience in biotech or pharma industry is based on degree as follows: 2+ years is preferred for candidates with PhD | 3+ years is required for candidates with M.S. | 5+ years is required for candidates with B.S.
  • Proficiency in LC-MS and HPLC operation and troubleshooting is required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain precise records
  • Strong statistical analysis and data analysis skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex biological data into concise, understandable insights for diverse audiences.

The salary range for this position is $105,000 to $125,000 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The actual compensation and seniority level for this position will be determined based on relevant experience and qualifications.
