In a first of its kind, AOA Dx is developing AKRIVIS GD™, an early-stage liquid biopsy test for ovarian cancer.
AOA Dx is seeking a driven Gangliosides Scientist to support platform development for the detection and quantification of gangliosides. The candidate will work in the AOA laboratory as an individual contributor designing and executing scientific experiments and providing expertise on glycosphingolipid biochemistry in vivo and in vitro in a collaborative team environment. The candidate will participate on multidisciplinary project teams in our fast-paced diagnostic discovery environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expertise and support in experimental design and potential platform adoption around optimized glycosphingolipid measurement in blood, cell lysate, and tissue.
- Design validation assays for quantitative and semi-quantitative immunoassay platforms to demonstrate specificity, sensitivity and utility of said platforms
- Plans, perform, and analyze laboratory experiments in a safe and timely manner with moderate supervision
- Compile, maintain, and interpret data on results of analyses and communicate these results to manager
- Prepare technical reports, summaries, and quantitative analyses
- Effectively communicate results internally to team and externally to collaborators by written and verbal means
- Conduct literature searches and maintain a familiarity with the current technical scientific literature in the area of specialization
- May attend scientific conferences and contribute to scientific journals
- Participate in identifying and resolving technical problems relating to conducting scientific experiments
Qualifications:
- PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or cancer biology focused on glycospingholipids (Masters level candidates will be considered if thesis work is relevant)
- Peer reviewed publications on analysis of gangliosides or other glycosphingolipids
- Experience in conducting and analyzing in vitro immunoassay assays
- Excellent working knowledge of ELISA
- Understanding of the principles of mass spectrometry and lipidomics
- Good problem solving and creative scientific skills
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Effective handling of simultaneous projects
- Ability to clearly present technical and conceptual information verbally and in writing
- Demonstrated growth in acquiring new skills and understanding new concepts
The salary range for this position is $105,000 to $125,000 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The actual compensation and seniority level for this position will be determined based on relevant experience and qualifications.
